We visit Memphis pretty frequently and decided to finally check out the Memphis Riverboat cruises on a recent trip.
We are fans of BBQ and love Central BBQ. We also enjoy the Commissary and Gus’s Fried Chicken.
We’ve been to the zoo, the Pink Palace.
We’ve watched the Grizzlies play in the NBA playoffs and saw Katy Perry perform her heart out at the FedEx Forum. We watched an off-Broadway production of the Lion King at the Orpheum.
We’ve stood atop the Pyramid and shot paintballs at Zombies in Shelby Park.
Last fall we decided to try something new! We took our friends Alicia and Blake along and had a great day in Memphis.
Memphis Riverboats
Memphis Riverboats offer guided boat tours of the Mississippi River.
In the early 1980’s Memphis was preparing to open the MUD ISLAND RIVER Park and Memphis Riverboats was to have a role in the new adventure. The idea of the Island Queen was born. In 1983 “Capt Tom” completed the Island Queen, a 100-foot long vessel with an enclosed first, deck a covered second deck, and a partially covered third deck.
As we rode we were treated to a history lesson about the river.
The tour was $20 per person and lasted about an hour and a half.
