14 Gift Ideas for Outdoor Lovers
A Multi-tool
A multi-tool is one of the most reliable and versatile pieces of equipment an outdoor enthusiast can have. Having an item that can do numerous jobs at once very useful and practical. When camping, we try to make sure that everything is compact, for portability and convenience. A multi-tool checks all the boxes. The Leatherman Signal Camping multi-tool is my favorite!
A gas stove
Camp cooking can be done over an open fire and some parks and campgrounds even provide built-in grills. Having a propane stove opens a whole realm of possibilities when it comes to cooking. You can boil water, fry, saute and do just about anything you would with your stove at home. My Coleman stove has been going strong for over 20 years but the Etekcity Ultralight Portable Backpacking Stove is perfect for hiking or if you are really looking to conserve space!
Dutch oven
If you have a more adventurous outdoor-loving friend you might want to consider getting them a cast-iron dutch oven. This cooking implement has been around for a long time and learning to use one is a lot of fun. Check out some of our Dutch oven posts for more information.
Water bottle with filter
It is important to keep yourself hydrated throughout, whether you are at home or out there in the woods. Since most people camp far from home, they may have concerns about the kind of water they might find there. Safety and cleanliness is a major concern. A water bottle with a filter can be a really thoughtful gift and the Lifestraw Go Water Bottle ensures that the water is always free from contaminates and good for drinking.
Binoculars
Whether you’re birding, watching wildlife or spying on your neighbors (ha!) a good pair of binoculars is a great tool for an outdoor lover. Look for ones that are lightweight and compact. I love these Bushnell H20 Waterproof Binoculars.
A good, entertaining book
Most outdoor lovers like to get away from technology when they camp or hike. Even if you are busy all day long, nothing beats a good book at the end of a long day. Check out these 12 Books Every Outdoor Lover and Adventure Seeker Should Read.
Hammock
When I set up camp one of the first things I do is hang my hammock. It is so peaceful to find a spot along the lakeshore or beside a babbling brook and gently swing while listening to the sound of the wilderness. We have both ENO and MalloMe hammocks. The MalloMe is more affordable but the strap system on the ENO is much more user-friendly.
Inflatable Air Couch
After spending the whole day exploring, hiking or engaging in various physical activities, it’s nice to sit down and relax. This does not have to be uncomfortable just because you are in the wild. Air couches are a lot of fun and are light and compact. And all you need is the air to fill them up. No huffing and puffing! We got an air couch while visiting the beach but they are also perfect for camping!
Compass/GPS Navigator
Getting lost is no fun for anyone, especially if it happens at night. That’s why a good quality compass or a GPS navigator can be a great, practical gift for camping enthusiasts to keep them on track at all times.
Insulated bottle
Whether you like a cold or hot beverage you probably like it to stay that way. There’s no ice machine in the wilderness to help you cool your drink and there is no microwave to reheat it. An insulated bottle is great because many will work with either hot or cold liquids and they can maintain their temperatures for 12 or more hours! I absolutely love my Klean Kanteen Double Wall Insulated Bottle and they have lots of fun colors and styles.
Camera
Nowadays cell phones all have great cameras but the battery can run down quickly, especially when you are taking a lot of photos. Digital cameras are compact, have a lot of memory and their batteries last much longer than a phone making them a great gift for the outdoor lover that enjoys documenting their adventures. Go simple with a compact and inexpensive point and shoot or go pro with a GoPro HERO8 Black.
Outdoor t-shirt
Most outdoor lovers have to come inside every now and then. Help make it a little easier by giving them a fun, outdoorsy t-shirt to wear. Of course, I am pretty partial to our Seek Adventure line of shirts and other apparel. Use discount code HOLIDAY10 to get 10% off your order now through December 24, 2019.
A walking stick
Hiking is one of the most common activities for outdoor enthusiasts. There are many reasons why a walking stick can be beneficial but they also make great gifts. A traditional walking stick like those made by Brazos are perfect for shorter hikes. For longer hikes, a pair of trekking poles can really help lighten your load.
America the Beautiful Pass
What outdoor lover wouldn’t want an excuse to spend even more time outdoors. The America the Beautiful Pass provides access to more than 2000 parks and locations across the nation and is good for 365 days.
