Summer may be coming to a close but that doesn’t mean we have to stop drinking lemonade. As the temperatures begin to cool down you can still enjoy the summer heat with this Spicy Jalapeno LemonLimeade.

We go back to school mid-August here in Arkansas. Gone already are the long, lazy days of sleeping in and lounging by the pool.  Work starts early and I am exhausted by the day’s end.

The afternoon grind seems just as hectic as I try to fit in my daily walk, my daily bike ride and my weight-training three times a week.  Add to that the chore of cooking dinner every night, prepping lunch for the next day, laundry, dishes, and work responsibilities that trickle into the evening hours and very little time is left for relaxing.

Sometimes we just need a break and a sweet treat. This Spicy Jalapeno LemonLimeade does the trick and it will make good use of the abundance of peppers that are popping up in the garden lately. Take a break mid-week and enjoy a fun movie night like we did a few days ago.

Place the sugar and 2 cups of cold water into a saucepan. Stir well and bring to a boil. Reduce to a simmer and add the jalapenos. Simmer for about 10 minutes. Remove the jalapenos and allow the sugar water mixture to cool.

Use a citrus press to squeeze the lemon and lime juice into a pitcher. Add the cooled sugar water mixture and the remaining cold water. Mix well.
